WELCOME:

O PENING PRAYER:
The Rev. Julio Flores, Assistant Pastor for Congregational Life, MCC

S PEAKERS:
Alice Pritchard, Executive Director, Connecticut Women’s
and Education Legal Fund (CWEALF), Hartford, CT
Alice will speak about the work by CWEALF and its allied
Hate Crimes network to add gender identity and expression to the
Connecticut Hate Crimes statute. The focus of this effort will be for
the upcoming legislative session.
The Rev. John Selders, Pastor of Amistad UCC, Hartford, CT
John will address his general concern for hate violence
in general and touch upon specific issues facing the Trans-identified
person and community. John will weave into this talk his particular
relationships to this issue.
Quinton Johansen, FtM, Member of the Hartford Chapter of
Dignity/USA
Quinton is a Female to Male Transsexual, who has and is
very active in both the local and regional Trans community. He will
speak both generally to anti-transgender hate as well as to specific
issues of being Trans within the LGBTI community.
Brandon Cardett, Trans Ally, Northeast Region Student
Organizer
Brandon is a senior at Windham High School, where he
founded the school's gay-straight alliance in an effort to help stop
harassment and discrimination at his school. He will speak to his role
as a Trans ally, the observance at his High School for the Day of
Remembrance and his experiences and concerns surrounding the Transgender
youth.

VIGIL:
Volunteers will come forward to light the 24 candles,
and take their places around the Chapel.
All are invited to stand, as they feel comfortable doing
so.
As each name is read, a candle will be extinguished.
Please observe a moment of silent reflection.
The vigil will conclude with an informal social, and a
viewing of the short video, "In Memory of Rita."
